My Autobiography
Describe the world you come from — for example, your family, community or school — and tell us how world has shaped your dreams and aspirations.
Almost all throughout my elementary and middle school years, I’ve witnessed both my parents struggling. My dad moved to the United States in this late teenage years. He went to school here in Lindsay and also graduated. But since he didn’t go to college, he struggled finding a decent paying job that was good enough to support his family. My mother on the other hand went to a continuation school and didn’t graduate, she is still currently trying to get her high school diploma. Seeing her struggle just to finish school isn’t something I’d want to do, especially at the age she is at now. So she inspires me to try my hardest and my best at whatever it is that I decide to do.
I was born in Lindsay, Ca. It is a very small town of about almost 13,000 in population. I am part of a small family of just 3 kids, I am the oldest out of my other 2 brothers. We are all three years apart in age. All during my childhood I wanted to be a teacher, a doctor, and a veterinarian. But of course, that was every kid’s dream job. Throughout my past 5 years of school, I’ve struggled so much to be on pace or near on pass for almost all of my classes. Since my mom was always at school and my dad was always working, there wasn’t really anybody home to help me with homework.
An event that shifted my life forever was my grandfather’s passing. After my grandfather passed away, things got so much harder. My parent’s divorced later on that year. And with my mom being a single mom, not having a job and attending school, we struggled really bad to make ends meet. Years passed and nothing’s changed. She then met a man who she then made her boyfriend, of course since he was the man of the house, he paid bills and provided for us. We then moved into a house that was big enough for the all of us. I am very thankful for my mom and stepdad, without them, I wouldn’t be where or who I am right now. And because of their endless support, I really want to make them proud parents one day.
My goals are to finish high school and attend college. I plan on attending a community college first for 2 years, then transferring out to a UC for Dental Hygienist. I find the dental field very interesting. Ever since I was a little kid, I remember sitting in the chair with my eyes wide open looking at everything the dentist was doing, I loved it! I want to make my mom and my step dad very proud of me one day and from this day forward, I will try my hardest to not disappoint them.
